Hold and flag high-risk orders before they ship

When Shopify's fraud analysis marks an order high risk, put fulfillment on hold, tag it, and ping the team to review.

Trigger: Shopify finishes the fraud analysis on an order.

What it does

  1. Wait for the risk analysis
  2. If risk is high: hold fulfillment
  3. Tag the order and alert the team

Shopify Flow Recommended

Trigger: Order risk analyzed

Conditions

  • order risk level equals HIGH (pick the risk recommendation/level field in the variable picker)

Actions

  1. For each fulfillment order on the order: Hold fulfillment order
  2. Add order tags: risk-review
  3. Send Slack message to #ops with {{order.name}}

This trigger only runs for Shopify's own risk assessments, not third-party fraud apps, and runs a little after the order is created. Shopify publishes related templates ("Cancel high-risk orders", "Get notified about high risk orders before capturing payment").

  1. Shopify: New Fraudulent Order (risk level: high)
  2. Shopify: Update Order (add tag risk-review)
  3. Slack: Send Channel Message

Zapier can flag and alert, but holding fulfillment is easiest in Flow.
